Use of unauthorized assistance (written, verbal, electronic or other sources of aid), in-class tests, take-home tests, lab assignments, problem sets, term papers, clinical tests, research projects, oral presentations.
Using the aid of unauthorized sources in writing papers, solving problems or completing other assignments which includes having another individual write your paper or do your assignments or purchasing a paper or research work for one’s submission as their own work.
Acquisition or possession, without permission, of examinations or other academic material belonging to a member of the university faculty or staff. Using graded material from the previous term that was not intended to be shared is a cheating violation. If in doubt of what may be used, students should consult the course instructor.
Provision of assistance to others who are participating in the behaviors or activities mentioned above.
Falsification of statements or data.

What is "Cheating"
These are student leadership opportunities.
One student from each class will be elected to the Committee on Curriculum and course evaluations.
One student from each class will be elected to the Committee on Inclusion and Belonging
One student from each class will be elected to the Committee on Well being
One class representative will be elected from each "Block Course" to represent the class to the course leader.
Class officers (President, Vice President, Secretary) and club officers.
Students must be present within 10 minutes of the exam start time and cannot leave the exam for the first 15 minutes after the exam starts.
What are timelines around exam entry and exit.
These events are mandatory and may be made up if possible with an excused absence.
What is:
Laboratories, discussion sessions, clinical visits, other experiential activities, all assessments (exams, OSCE's etc.)
If a student does not pass a single course in a semester, they must do this in order to remain in the curriculum.
What is a remediation exam?
This is a special form of cheating that occurs when a person represents someone else's words, ideas, phrases, sentences, or data as one's own work. When submitting work that includes someone else's words, ideas, syntax, data, computer code, visual images, or other non-textual materials, or organizational patterns, the source of that information must be acknowledged through complete, accurate and specific references.

What is a pass/fail grading scheme
Students should download their exam into this program 24 hours before the exam starts. Once in the examroom, students will be provided access to start the exam on this program with a password.

Reasons for an EXCUSED absence
What is:
Physical or mental/emotional illness of themselves or an immediate family member.
Death in family
Required court appearances
Religious or cultural holidays
Serious or unavoidable circumstances beyond your control
A student may appeal a grade on an individual assessment or the final course grade within 14 days of receiving the disputed grade to the course instructor.
What is a level 1 grade appeal?
As with any resource or tool, it is important to follow the guidelines given by your instructor. Your instructor may include generative artificial intelligence tools in your class discussions or allow them on assignments. However, your instructors might also limit or forbid the use of such tools in their course.
Using ChatGPT or a similar content generator in a course without the permission of the instructor may lead to an academic integrity violation and have serious sanctions attached. Be sure to clarify with your instructor whether they allow the use of such tools in their course, and what limitations apply.
Notably, ChatGPT is a predictive language model that does not “think”. It may confidently state false information, make up facts or quotations, or provide inappropriate responses. Even if you elect to use it as permitted within your courses, be sure to engage carefully and thoughtfully with the content it generates.

A student maybe granted up to 2 of these days a year to attend important events (professional meetings, job interviews, weddings, etc.) but must be requested up to 30 days prior to the event and are not guaranteed if it coincides with an assessment.
What are personal days
If the level 1 appeal is unsuccessful, the student may submit an appeal to the Assoc Dean for Student Success and the Committee on Academic Standards.
What is a level 2 appeal
If misconduct occurred within the context of a class, clerkship or a school activity, the course leader or responsible faculty member together with the Associate Dean for Student Success will meet with the student and explain the nature of the alleged violation. The student will have an opportunity to offer an explanation. At this point, the faculty member may issue a warning or may impose a penalty that is accepted by all parties. If the issue cannot be resolved, they may refer the case to the Committee on Academic Standards. In either case, the faculty must fill out a SSVM misconduct allegation form and provide a copy to both the accused student and the Associate Dean for Student Success. The SSVM misconduct allegation form will remain a part of the student record.

There are over 300 of these activities and I must complete 90% of them prior to graduation.
What is a Skills log
This voluntary event happens within a week of the original exam. Following the same guidelines as the original exam (e.g. only my devise at my desk) I will be able to log onto ExamSoft and see all the answers to the questions asked on an exam.
What is an exam debriefing.
When a student misses a mandatory assessment without any of the reasons for an excused absence they may receive a zero for that assessment or if an alternative exam can be obtained, there will be a 10% penalty on available points for that assessment.
What is an unexcused absence.
a process though which the office of academic success offers academic support to students who maybe struggling academically. This maybe optional (examination score between 69.5% and 75%) or mandatory (examination score below 69.5%)
What is an Academic Check-in
If the case is not resolved at Stage 1 it will be referred to the Committee on Academic Standards. The committee will review the SSVM misconduct allegation form and gather any evidence from the accused student(s) and any other parties considered appropriate. The committee may dismiss the case if they believe the complaint is not supported by the available information. The committee may recommend sanctions of various levels of severity up to dismissal. If the accused student wishes to appeal the decision of the academic standing committee, they may appeal to the Honor Board.
