The art technique is called
“wax resist.” You draw on
piece of paper with a white
crayon. Then you paint
over it with watercolors
and whatever you drew
with the crayon, which
contains wax, resists the
paint and shines through
the color.

to go to the concert, but Amanda and Stef
don’t know how they’ll get enough money
for tickets and Stef is worried that her
parents won’t let her go by herself.

Amanda became
friends.
Stef and Amanda became
friends in sixth grade after
Stef accidentally knocked
Amanda over during
soccer practice. Amanda
had to sit out the rest of
the season, and Stef
assumed that she didn’t
like her. However, one day
Amanda approaches Stef to
show her how to kick the
soccer ball. Stef
compliments her on her
cast. They’ve been friends
ever since.
Why does Stef wear her
hair down on Sunday?
She wears her hair down
because Mami likes it
down. Mami has said she
looks older with her hair
down. Stef wants to look

parents that she is mature
