I don’t ask for gold, just a plate to share,
In kitchens or homes, I’m prepared with care.
Faith, youth, and families play a part,
In filling bellies, with kindness at heart.
I travel from stove to doorstep with ease,
What am I, that brings comfort and peace?
DONATING A MEAL
YWS has opportunities available to cook in our kitchen, or you can cook at home, or pick up a meal and drop off here at YWS.
What is YWS' vision statement?
Ending Homelessness... One Youth at a Time, One Step at a Time.
In 1995 this program launched to provide vital training to youth experiencing homelessness.
YWS Life Skills Program.
I don’t need a stage, yet I’m still in demand,
I help with the body, the mind, or a hand.
From fitness to writing, or a beauty routine,
I share what I know, making life serene.
In workshops I live, where skills are the key,
What am I, helping others to be free?
SHARING A SKILL OR TALENT
Workshop possibilities may include hairdressing, nutrition, creative writing, health and physical fitness, and personal care.
What are YWS' primary colours?
Purple and Blue
While present in various forms historically, homelessness didn't become a widespread social issue until this year.
1980
Coinciding with shifts in government housing policies and programs.
With knowledge to share, I step in to guide,
Helping young minds navigate and decide.
From science to math, and language too,
I build their confidence, helping them through.
In small groups or one-on-one, I’m there,
Bringing clarity and support, with patience to spare.
What am I, assisting youth on their path to succeed?
A TUTOR
Tutors are required in the YWS Stay in School Program on an as needed basis. As a tutor you will be helping remove barriers to a positive future for the youth residing in the Stay in School Program. You will be asked to work one on one or in a small group with youth (ages 16-24) from a diverse range of backgrounds.
