Two 13-year-old girls are camping in the backyard. According to the girls, a man entered their tent after they were asleep. He was wearing a stocking over his head and shined a flashlight in their eyes and warned them not to look at him. Neither girl was able to describe his face. Based on a state statute, the court allowed the girls to testify while a large screen was placed between the girls and the alleged assailant while each girl was on the witness stand testifying. Also, certain lighting adjustments were made in the courtroom so the screen would enable the alleged assailant to dimly perceive the witnesses, but the witnesses could not see him at all.
