What is the main responsibility of the BASS SFSS Role?
To represent BASS, Affiliate clubs, and Beedie students at SFSS Council meetings and communicate between SFSS and BASS
What does BASS stand for and who do we represent?
Business Administration Student Society. We represent all Business majors, minors and students taking business courses.
What does OSE stand for?
Office of Student Engagement

How does the SFSS get their money?
Through mandatory student fees paid by all SFU undergraduates AKA Levies

True or False: OSE pays for BASS’ conferences?
False. BASS Executives pay for around 50% of the conference costs and the rest is subsidized by BASS, the SFSS & our ticket sale revenue.
Your VP HR is short on cash and is wondering if they could borrow a little bit of the club’s saving to pay for their car insurance for the month. You are not running any events and the amount is marginal so no one will notice. What do you do?
No! Club funding should only be used for the purposes of club operations! If you are short on cash, let your execs know or talk to a trusted person.

OSE decides the amount received with input from the Beedie School of Business
You disagree with a core decision your team made, but it was made democratically. You’ve been asked to communicate it publicly. What do you do and what values guide that decision?
As long as the decision is not a conflict of ethics, stand united with your executive team. You all move as one organization at the end of the day. If you would like, you can be listed as a dissenter in your meeting minutes so there is a record that you disagreed.

Can the SFSS and OSE support the same event?
Yes! Just because OSE is financially supporting your event does not mean the SFSS cannot! Just remember to be transparent with the SFSS! If OSE is supporting an event, you don't need to follow the SFSS policies and guidelines
You notice a coordinator applying to a lot of other clubs and case competitions and you can tell that their performance has objectively suffered because of it. They're a friend, and you’re unsure if you’re crossing a line if you step in? What do you do?
Complicated - not really a yes or no! Both answers are acceptable as long as you provide a valid justification
Why doesn’t Beedie have a room in the Sub Building?
Beedie doesn’t have a room in the SUB because when the SUB was built, the SFSS rep position was vacant. This is why having representation is important!
What is a recent structural change to our executive team?
Introduction of the Academics portfolio. This stemmed from the increase in affiliate clubs workshops and growing need for employment and academic support from students!
What percentage of OSE budget goes to supporting club operations?
70% of OSE’s budget is used for Student organization funding. Only 30% is reserved for them and their operations.
Who picks the award winners for the BASS Celebration Gala
Not OSE or BASS! The winners are selected by a third party adjudication committee!
A company offers you a $5,000 sponsorship, but one of your performance obligations is asking first-years to buy a shady credit card?. Do you accept the sponsorship? Justify your decision
Complicated - but most likely no. Although the money is nice, don’t do anything that can put our members at risk!
