what is natural selection?

The process through which populations of living organisms adapt and change

100

What is a cladogram?

An organized way to show the evolution of species traits over time.

100

What is a trophic pyramid

a graphic representation of how energy flows through a biological system

200

What is a selective advantage?

A characteristic or trait that gives an organism a better chance of survival and reproduction than the alternatives.

200

What is a clade?

It is the full section of the cladogram going back to the most recent common ancestor.

300

what is an adaption?

a change/process of change that makes an organism better suited to its environment.

300

What is a node?

It is a branching in a cladogram that occurs when a new trait is added, and creates a hypothetical common ancestor.

400

What is a mutation?

random change to an organism’s DNA sequence.

If there is a cladogram that has a worm on the far left, a turtle in the middle, and a deer on the right, which two animals are the most closely related(image wouldn't upload =p)

The turtle and the deer have the most recent common ancestor.

How does the story of the rock pocket exemplify natural selection?

Some of the desert turns darker due to volcanic eruptions; however, the mice are lighter colored and more susceptible to being eaten by the predators. Over time some of the mice mutate and gain a selective by having their fur turn darker advantage and therefore are eaten less, meaning they survive more than the lighter mice.

What are the two types of cladograms?

Molecular and trait(regular).
