What is withdrawal?
When the person does not take the substance or engage in the activity, they experience unpleasant symptoms, which are often the opposite effects of the addictive behavior (i.e., headaches, throwing up, feeling body aches, low mood).
A condition in which a person develops intense cravings for the substance and the inability to control their behaviors in regards to obtaining and using it.

Yes. If a family member has been diagnosed with, or struggled with, a substance use disorder, you can be more at risk for developing an addiction yourself. Its possible also that addiction has genetic factors.
It is also possible that a person could see their family member's substance abuse disorder and steer themselves way away from substance use.
