What would the prophet saw do when someone got sick?

He Visited the Sick and Stayed

When a companion was sick, the Prophet ﷺ did not send someone else. He went himself. He would sit with them. Not a brief appearance — a real visit, real time, real attention. He would make duʿa for them, place his hand on them, and stay until they felt better. There is a narration that he visited a young Jewish boy who was ill, sat with him, and invited him to Islam. The boy looked to his father, who nodded, and the boy accepted. The Prophet ﷺ left saying: praise be to Allah who saved him from the Fire. — Bukhari 1356. He showed up for everyone — not just the Muslims, not just the powerful. Everyone.

Bilal was an enslaved man from Abyssinia, one of the earliest Muslims. His owner Umayyah ibn Khalaf tortured him repeatedly: laid on burning sand, a heavy boulder on his chest, ordered to deny Allah. His answer, every time: Ahad. Ahad. One. One. Abu Bakr RA paid for his freedom. The Prophetﷺ later said: I can still hear Bilal’s sandals in Paradise ahead of me.

Give an example of the prophets generosity

His companions described his generosity: he was never asked for something and said no. He gave away everything he received before he went to bed at night. His wives would sometimes wonder what they would eat tomorrow. And he would smile and say: trust Allah.

• The valley of sheep. A man came to Madinah. When he left, the Prophet ﷺ gave him a gift so large — a whole valley full of sheep — that the man went back to his tribe and said: come, all of you. Muhammad gives like a man who has no fear of poverty. The tribe entered Islam.

• The distribution after Hunayn. After the Battle of Hunayn, the Prophet ﷺ distributed the war spoils — camels, sheep, wealth — to the newly-converted leaders of Quraysh who needed the encouragement. He gave the Ansar nothing material. They murmured quietly among themselves. He called them together and asked: are you not pleased that other people go home with camels and sheep, and you go home with the Messenger of Allah in your midst? They wept. They said: we are more than pleased. — Bukhari 4330. The Ansar were securing their akhirah with what they took home.

• He helped with his hands. He carried bricks. He mended his own sandals. He milked his own goats. He helped with household chores. When Aisha RA was asked what he did at home, she said: he was in service of his family. — Bukhari 676.

Tell the story of the christian monk who recognized the prophet saw

At a stop near Busra in Syria, the caravan passed the dwelling of a Christian monk named Bahira. Bahira was known as a scholar of ancient scriptures — books that had descriptions of a coming prophet. He had never paid attention to passing caravans before. But this time, he noticed something. There was a cloud. It was following one member of the caravan — a young boy — shading him alone from the heat. When the caravan stopped and sat under a tree, the branches of that tree seemed to bend toward him, offering shade. Bahira asked to meet him. He looked at him carefully. He found between his shoulders a mark — described in the old scriptures as a sign of the final prophet. He said to Abu Talib: "Who is this boy to you?’ When Abu Talib answered, Bahira said: ‘Take him home. Protect him. He has a great future, and there are people who will want to stop him." A scholar of a different faith, reading his own ancient books, recognized the Prophetﷺ before any Muslim did. That is worth sitting with.

Give an example of the prophets loyalty to Khadijah RA

Khadijah RA died in the tenth year of the mission — the Year of Sorrow. For the rest of his life, the Prophetﷺ kept her memory alive in specific, costly ways.

• He sent food and gifts to her friends. Every time he slaughtered an animal, he would set aside portions for Khadijahﷺ’s circle of friends and have them delivered. These were not relatives — they were her friends. Women he kept taking care of because she had loved them.

• He reacted to her sister’s voice. When Halah bint Khuwaylid came to his door and called out— years after Khadijahﷺ’s death — the Prophet ﷺ heard the resemblance in her voice and went still. He said: O Allah, let it be Halah. He still felt her presence in those who reminded him of her.

• He spoke about her constantly. Aisha RA said: I was never more jealous of a woman I never met. The Prophet ﷺ spoke of Khadijahﷺ so often and with such love that Aisha once said — exasperated —"Was she not an old woman? Allah has given you better than her." The Prophet ﷺ’s face changed. He said: Allah has not given me better than her. She believed when no one else believed. She helped with her wealth when I had nothing. She bore me children. — Bukhari 3818. He defended her. Firmly. Lovingly. Without apology.

Tell the story of "The Son of a Camel"

A man came to the Prophetﷺ and said: O Messenger of Allah, give me an animal to ride. The Prophetﷺ said: I will give you the son of a camel to ride. The man was confused. A baby camel? He can’t carry me! He said: "O Messenger of Allah, what will I do with the son of a camel?" The Prophetﷺ smiled and said: is every camel not the son of a camel? — Abu Dawud 4998. He meant: I’ll give you a camel. A full-grown one. But he played with the words to make the man think twice. And the man laughed. And the Prophetﷺ laughed. And the camel was given.
