What is a headcount?
These must always travel with your group.
What are walk bags and walkies?
Instead of saying "Be Careful," staff should provide these.
What are specific, actionable directions?
If a student has not arrived by this time, you should alert the admin team.
What is 8:45 AM?
If the nurse is unavailable, this person should administer medication.
Who is an administrator: Maria, Meredith, or Kayla?
The iPad should be used daily for attendance and this.
What are group photos?
During an evacuation, you hold up this color card if everyone is accounted for.
What is a green card?
We avoid doing this with Primary students unless safety, regulation, or care clearly require it.
What is picking them up/carrying them?
Staff arriving at 7:30 should spend the first 30 minutes doing this.
What is preparing the classroom?
These contain first aid supplies, medications, and emergency contacts.
"Color a picture, go down the slide, sit in a tiny chair" all relate to this expectation.
What is Engage with Kids?
If a child has an injury to this area of the body, an incident report is always required and home must be called.
What is the head, face, or neck?
Staff often refer to groups of children using this inclusive term.
What is "friends"?
Counselors should remain with their group during these classes and specialists should never be left alone.
What are Specials?
In the event an EpiPen is administered, you must do this immediately.
What is call 911?
This expectation reminds staff to check the notes board, mailbox, and email daily.
What is Stay Current?
According to ALICE, this step involves using noise, movement, and distractions as a last resort.
What is counter?
According to Wellan's summer philosophy, staff should avoid doing this even when it would be faster.
What is stepping in to do tasks students are capable of doing themselves?
Name one of the three required parts of a good circle.
What is Greeting, Group Activity, or Sharing?
This outdoor activity must never be left unattended, even if students are not outside.
What is water play?
This expectation involves respecting emotions and providing strategies for children.
