When does summer reading begin and end?
It begins the last day of this school year and it ends when you go back to school in September.
What is Beanstack?
Beanstack is a place to log and track your reading. Doing this makes you eligible for virtual and real prizes.
When do you get your first summer reading prize?
Once you sign up for summer reading. You don't even have to have started reading yet.
What can you do any day the library is open?
Browse a selection of new books and pick up a craft to do at home.
How do I sign up if I don't have access to a computer or smart phone?
Call the library and speak to a Children's Librarian who will sign you up.
What counts as summer reading?
Reading anything, including magazines and graphic novels. Listening to books or reading to a sibling also count.
What do you get at certain milestones?
Beanstack will reward you with virtual badges.
What prize can you get for logging at least 20 minutes of reading in one week.
You might win a gift card to a local business -- Ben & Bills, Back Door Donuts, The Game Room, The Lazy Frog and more.
This summer we will have two interactive movie kits. What are the movies?
Gremlins and Jumanji.
What happens after I sign up?
You may pick up a goodie bag at the library. It will include a summer reading t-shirt from last year, a bookmark, stickers, and a library event flyer.

20 minutes

A scavenger hunt to find the animals that go with particular tails.
How will my parents and I know how to sign up?
You will receive a flyer from your classroom teacher.
If you aren't on beanstack, can you still do summer reading?
Yes. Call the library and talk to a Children's Librarian.
If you get stuck or confused while using Beanstack, what should you do?
Call the Oak Bluffs Public Library and speak to a Children's Librarian.
Once you have read for at least 9 hours, what grand prize might you win?
A backpack filled with a dozen or so books picked especially for you.
What other activities will the library host this summer?
