A struggle a character faces caused by forces outside of their control

The time and place where a story takes place

When the narrator of a story knows the thoughts and emotions of multiple characters within a story.

Using descriptions to reveal a characters personality.
What is direct characterization?
An example of this would be a character's conflicting ideals and goals
What is internal conflict?
An idea that recurs in a work of literature
What is the theme?
A storyteller whose credibility isn't guaranteed.
What is an unreliable narrator?
A character that grows, changes ideals, and develops throughout the story.
What is a round or dynamic character?
Something that has several layers of meaning and goes further than a literal interpretation
What is a symbol?
The ending of a story that ties up loose ends and ends the conflict.
What is the resolution?
The attitude towards a certain audience or idea, conveyed by the writer through word choice.
What is tone?
Using actions, speech, and interactions with other characters, to show their personality.
What is indirect characterization?
