Zachariah and Elizabeth were old in age and wanting to have a baby. They were both very righteous in the sight of God and obeyed God’s commands.
Angel Gabriel appeared to Zechariah and told him he and Elizabeth will have a baby and they will name the baby John.
Zachariah did not believe the angel, and so Angel Gabriel told Zachariah that he will be silent until the day his baby arrives. Zachariah told Angel Gabriel that they were too old to have a child.
