why did Allah set Take the oath of the Pen?
to show the importance of pen
إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَنْ ضَلَّ عَنْ سَبِيلِهِ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِالْمُهْتَدِينَ
? what did Allah (swt) strongly refute
the accusations of the disbelievers that the Prophet(saw) is insane and misguided.
مَآ أَنتَ بِنِعْمَةِ رَبِّكَ بِمَجْنُونٍۢ ٢
Not you are by the / with the grace of your lord, Insane
مَّنَّاعٍۢ
preventer/ withholder
عَظِيمٍۢ
great
what are the disbelievers asked in this verse?
why did Allah say in Verse 8: "So do not yield to the unbelievers."
- Disbelievers desired compromises in faith for mutual concessions.
وَإِنَّكَ لَعَلَىٰ خُلُقٍ عَظِيمٍۢ ٤
and indeed you surely on character great
يُبْصِرُونَ
they will see
ضَلَّ
strayed/ went wrong
"كَانَ خُلُقُ نَبِيِّ اللَّه ﷺ الْقُرْآنَ“
The Quran was his character
what does this mean
It means that whatever the Quran commanded he acted on it and whatever it forbade, he avoided it.
who are being warned by this verse
Verse 33: "Such is the punishment in this life; but the punishment in the Hereafter is even greater, if they but knew."
وَدُّوا۟ لَوْ تُدْهِنُ فَيُدْهِنُونَ ٩
They wish that you compromise so they compromise
يَسْطُرُونَ
They write
حَرْثِكُمْ
your crop
what was the Reactions to Loss of the owners of the garden from verse 26 and 27
- Realization of loss led to regret and self-reproach.

عُتُلٍّۭ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ زَنِيمٍ ١٣
cruel after that utterly useless
كَٱلصَّرِيمِ
As if reaped/ to ashes
يَتَخَـٰفَتُونَ
whispering to each other
who actually is a
مَشَّاءٍ بِنَمِيمٍ
Gossip monger (who sow seeds of dissension) and black biting.
Characteristics of Disbelievers:
- Verses 10-13 list negative traits:
- Oath-monger (frequently swears falsely).
- Slanderer, gossip-monger, stingy, transgressor.
- Cruel, oppressive, ignoble.
إِنَّا بَلَوْنَـٰهُمْ كَمَا بَلَوْنَآ أَصْحَـٰبَ ٱلْجَنَّةِ إِذْ أَقْسَمُوا۟ لَيَصْرِمُنَّهَا مُصْبِحِينَ ١٧
indeed we tested them jut like we tested the garden owners when they swore to pluck its fruit in the morning.
