It is recommended to check intraoperative blood glucose in patients who have received insulin therapy with this frequency.

This condition, predominantly found in impoverished areas, delays wound healing.
Though blood transfusions can increase the risk for SSIs, it is important to maintain this function to prevent hypoperfusion or tissue edema/local inflammation.
What is normovolemia?
Cross-sensitivity between penicillin allergy and cephalosporins is due to similarities between this specific chemical structure.
What is an R1 side chain?
This form of insulin administration provides prolonged glucose control.
What is subcutaneous injection OR IV insulin infusion?
Along with surgical sterility and staff hygiene, the failure to appropriately administer this class of medication can increase the risk of infections.
What are antibiotics?
A 2009 meta-analysis showed that providing higher amounts of this substance (80% vs 30%) during general anesthesia lowered the risk of SSI.

These two antibiotics are reasonable surgical prophylactic alternatives for patients who are allergic to beta lactam antibiotics.

Even though providing intraoperative supplemental O2 can decrease risk of SSI, caution must be taken toward providing prolonged high levels of O2 due to the risk of this.
