What does present mean in the habits of learning?
Being at school in mind and body.
What can you do during class?
Review your grades, look for missing assignments, work on classwork/homework, and/or ask for help.
What does P stand for?
Preparation
Are everyone's study habits the same?
No. Everyone studies differently- some people may need quiet, others may need music, some ask for help, while others prefer to do it alone. Whichever way works best for you is great, as long as you are studying.
What does participate mean in the habits of learning?
Following directions and being actively engaged in the class discussion.
What should you NOT do in class?
Sleep, watch videos, sneak out your phone, and/or play video games.
What does R stand for?
Respect
How can organizational skills help you learn?
If you know where everything is, you will not have to spend time looking for it, wasting valuable studying time.
What does prepared mean in the habits of learning?
Having all your materials ready to learn, to prep your brain to take in all the information.
What is the purpose of the Survival Skills class?
To give you extra time to study, prepare for class, and/or ask for help from the teacher.
What does I stand for?
Integrity
What is the purpose of breaks during study sessions?
To give your brain time to process the information that you learned.
What does perform mean in the habits of learning?
Doing your best.
How do you make the most of your class time?
By asking questions, answering questions, doing missing work, and/or studying for upcoming tests.
What does D stand for?
Discipline
Why do you organize at the end of each day before going to bed?
So you have everything ready to go and won't forget anything because you have more time to find things that you need.
What does professional mean in the habits of learning?
Working well with groups or individually, being respectful, and using your time and resources wisely.
What if you have finished all of your work, and/or have "nothing" to do?
Use the English Language Arts resources in the back of the class, look at the upcoming work due in other classes, find a book to read, and/or ask for ideas.
What does E stand for?
Excellence
How can you best prepare for all of your classes?
You need to know the due dates and details of your assignments, homework, projects, and tests.
