Program goals are broad statements of desired overall outcomes — not specific as to when or how.

An objective is a specific statement describing a particular, expected program outcome.

Objectives indicate to the reviewer exactly how you plan to achieve your goals.

Explain the importance of the sustainability section of the grant proposal from a funder's perspective. 

  • Funders will want to know that you have planned for the sustained success of your project--no foundation wants to be your only source of future support.
  • Think about it from the funder’s point of view-why invest your foundation’s resources in a project that may disappear after your grant money runs out? It's up to you to show funders that you can sustain the project.
