When do Hiring Managers need to send a PAR(personnel Action request) To HR?
Hiring Managers must submit a PAR to HR@galencollege.edu for any employee status change. This includes terminations, transfers, pay changes, title changes and supervisor changes
I am transferring from HCA- Does my 401k contrubution/match stay the same or does it restart to the new hire contribution of 3%?
The contribuition/match will stay the same when transferring from HCA.
Are Full Time Faculty paid for break weeks?
Yes, their salaries continues biweekly even during the break weeks.
Can we hire someone into a manual requisition?
No, only ATS reqs that we receive from HR.
Can an employee participate in tuition reimbursement and tuition assistance?
No, employees cannot double dip.
When do hiring managers submit a Hiring Justification Form?
Hiring managers must submit a hiring justification form to the VP of their department whenever they need to post a backfill or new position.
When transferring from HCA, will i still accrue PTO at the same rate?
No, the employee with start at the new hire rate with Galen. With Galens holidays and accrual, typically the employee with accrue more hours with us than they would with hca.
What is the MSN tuition discount for full-time faculty?
90% for FT Faculty
What happens if someones degree is from another country?
They will have to request an equivalency report for their degree earned in the other country.
If an adjunct is moving to full-time faculty, when do they enroll in benefits?
Benefits will be effective 30 days after their status change date- a benefits package will be mailed to the candidate. They can sign up through HCA Rewards or call BConnected.
If a FT Faculty with a BSN accepts - would the person who referred them get the $1,000 bonus?
Faculty members need to have a MSN or higher degree to qualify for the employee referral bonus. So the employee would not receive the referral bonus.
If someone is PRN with HCA, does not have their benefits, will they still have to wait 30 days to be eligible with a ft role at Galen?
Yes, if they do not have benefits currently at HCA, they will need to wait the 30 day period before being eligible with Galen.
How many certifications can faculty be reimbursed for annually?
Galen will reimburse employees who have been employed full-time for six (6) consecutive months and part-time/adjunct faculty who have been employed for twelve (12) consecutive months for the cost of two annual successfully completed certification exams and certification renewals provided that the certification is directly related to the employee’s current position responsibilities or planned career progression.
Does a Masters in Healthcare Administration count as a MSN for faculty?
No
When are FT Faculty and staff eligible for health, dental, and vision benefits?
After 30 days of employment.
How soon after an internal candidate accepts an offer can they start in their new role?
The beginning of the next pay period. As long as that is what is agreed upon by previous and new manager.
If a full-time faculty decides to work an extra course, are they paid the hourly rate of their salary for that or the adjunct pay?
Faculty that decides to work overage, are paid the hourly rate of their salary
When should you conduct an intake call with a hiring manager?
Before posting their position you should meet with the hiring manager to know what they are looking for or if they have any internal candidates in mind so that you would not need to post externally.
What is the difference between an internal profile and an external profile in GHR?
An internal profile is for any HCA or Galen employee. You must use their internal profile when hiring them into a new position.
What is the difference between the Galen Tuition Discount and Tuition Assistance?
The Tuition Discount is available for courses offered by Galen. Tuition Assistance is available for courses taken at accredited Colleges/Universities other than Galen.
