It measures the amount of strokes higher or lower your score is in relation to the field. If the field average was 70.4 and you shoot 68, your strokes gained is -2.4. Bonus: Average putts from 6ft --> 1.34, 3 - 1.34 = +1.66 against the field

It is the 36th hole of the US Am and I(Andrew Losey) am one down to my opponent who is looking at a 6 foot birdie putt to win. I am off the green chipping. While I hit my shot from off the green, my opponent removes the flagstick in preparation to bury his putt, my ball rolls 2 feet past the hole. I tap in for par, and he makes birdie. Who won the match?
Trick question: After he made birdie I called him out on rule 17-2: Unauthorized Attendance - "If an opponent or his caddie in match play, without the player's authority or prior knowledge, attends, removes, or holds up the flagstick during the stroke or while the ball is in motion and the act might influence the movement of the ball, the opponent incurs the applicable penalty" - Match Play - Loss of Hole I win the 36th and get back to All Square, the match continues.
