What do you do with a semester-loan laptop after it has been returned?
Scan it under the work order "Laptop: Update IC" and put it on the red cart so it can be updated.

All students have to apply for a hotspot, and they can be approved or disproved.

Yellow: Library loaner

Make sure it has gone through a factory reset, make sure it is charged, and give it to the Tech Gear supervisor
How do you renew an item at this desk?
ALWAYS PRESS THE RENEW BUTTON. The process is different at Tech Gear than circulation. If an item is lost, press found item, then renew.
How many printers in the library are for student-use?
4. There are 3 on the second floor (2 B&W, 1 color), and 1 on the fourth floor (B&W).

CalWORKS laptops and ASUS laptops
What do you do with a hotspot if it needs to go to Mahoney?
Put it in a courier bin. The Tech Gear supervisor will notify you if it needs to go to Mahoney.
Most day-loan items come with a card that we keep when a patron checks out an item. What do you do with the card at closing time if the item is still checked out to the patron?
Leave it on the middle table with a note stating the date and that the item has not been returned, so the supervisor can handle it in the morning.
What payment type does the printer NOT take?
None. It takes cash, coin, Apple Pay, credit/debit, etc.
How often should the markers we loan out be checked for potency?
How can a laptop be checked out to a staff member?
The library does not checkout laptops to staff members. Send them to IT in Bussman Hall.
How do you know which hotspots can be checked out to patrons?

What day loan items can staff checkout?
When you are returning a laptop you notice it says "Destination: Mahoney". What do you do with the laptop?
Laptops cannot be transferred to Mahoney via the courier bin. Hand it off to a supervisor.
What do you do if a patron comes in and says their hotspot does not work?
If it does not work with any device, speak to a supervisor. Do not swap out the hotspot.
Batteries need to be disposed of a different way because they are toxic. Where is the disposable battery bin located? (It is NOT at the Tech Gear desk)
