These grades holistically rate Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing based on classroom observations and student interactions.
What are grades K-1?

These are the rating rubrics or Proficiency Level Descriptors; Beginning, Intermediate, Advanced, and Advanced High. They describe how well ELLs at each proficiency level understand and use English to engage in grade-appropriate academic instruction.

This describes the assessment instruments as secure, and the contents of these tests, including student information used or obtained in their administration.
What is confidential?

This course is for new raters and raters that have not completed calibration in the last three school years. It provides instruction on using the PLD rubrics and gives raters practice rating students in each language domain. There are separate courses for K-1 and 2-12.
What is the Online Basic Training Course?

This is the ability to understand spoken language, comprehend and extract information, and follow social and instructional discourse through which information is provided.

These reports include the individual proficiency level ratings of students(beginning, intermediate, advanced, advanced high) in each of the four language domains assessed(listening, speaking, reading, writing).
What are TELPAS score reports?

These ELL students have little or no ability to understand and use English. They may know a little English but not enough to function meaningfully in social or academic settings.
What is Beginning Proficiency Level?

These activities are monitored and required for New and Returning Raters. They consist of two sets of students to be rated. Each language domain is represented in each set. Raters may use the PLDs and the Rater Manual.

These grade levels holistically rate student writing collections, and make observational assessments in listening and speaking, plus take a multiple choice online reading test.

These ELL students do have some ability to understand and use English. They can function in social and academic settings as long as the task require them to understand and use simple language structures and high-frequency vocabulary in routine contexts.
