In the movie, Civilized Girl by Gordon Ramsay, the literary device used in the poem is simile. For example, "steel-wool hair fuzzy and stiff now soft as coconut husk." The poet wanted the reader to understand that their natural hair is rough, thick, and curly. The poet compares how their natural hair changes after using products or straightening their hair and the texture being like coconut husk. Therefore, the metaphor is used effectively to help the reader to understand that the people in the Solomon Islands were changing their hairstyle so that it is similar to the western styles.

What should your response be when you are asked the following question on the reading comprehension test: "Reflect on the lesson from Passage A, and how will that lesson help you in your life?" (Use the story "The Boy Who Cried Wolf")
lesson - point, example, explain
how will that lesson help you in your life - link
The lesson in the passage is that we should always learn to be honest. For example, in lines 12 - 14 "he leaped to his feet and sang out as loudly as he could, Wolf! Wolf! But the villagers thought he was trying to fool them again." This means that the boy kept pranking the villagers by shouting that there was a wolf even though there wasn't. When the villagers came to help, they noticed he was lying to them and after the second time, they didn't come to help when he was actually telling the truth. Therefore, this lesson helped me to remember to be honest in everything that I do.
