Nariyah decided she was not going to listen to the laboratory directions and she created her own experiment. Is this permitted in Mrs. Steed's lab? What will her consequence be?

No it is not permitted; she will be banned form future labs and spend lab days with an administrator

300

What are the 3 components of the cell theory?

- all organisms are made up of one or more cells

- the cell is the basic unit of life in all living organisms

- all cells are created from pre-existing cells

300

What are the constants of an experiment?

Things that do not change. They remain the same for both the experimental and control group

300

What is the purpose of the control group?

The control group is not changed; it is used for comparison

Give TWO differences between Prokaryotic and Eukaryotic cells

- Prokaryotic cells are simple and small; Eukaryotic organisms are larger and more complex

- Prokaryotic cells do not have membrane bound organelles; Eukaryotic cells have membrane bound organelles and a nucleus

Lisa wants to test which lace glue will make her wig install last the longest. The glue she wants to test is Ghost Bond and Bold Hold.

Write a hypothesis using an "if, then" statement.

Ex: If Lisa uses (Ghost Bond/Bold Hold) glue, Then her wig install will last the longest.

Nylah is testing if more sunlight or water will cause a plant to grow taller. After 7 days she notices that the plant that received more sunlight, grew taller than the plant that received more water.

What is the DEPENDENT VARIABLE?

The dependent variable is plant height

What is a non-renewable energy source and give an example.

Nonrenewable= an energy source that does not replenish quickly

example= coal, oil

-closed toe shoes

-jeans/long pants

-long sleeve shirt

-hair tied in a ponytail

500

What 2 parts were added to the initial cell theory to CREATE the modern cell theory

- energy flows through cells

- cells have DNA, which contains genetic information, and is passed down from generation to generation

Lisa wants to test if different lace glue will make her wig install last longer. She hypothesizes that Bold Hold will last the longest. For her experiment, she uses Ghost Bond glue for one week and Bold Hold glue for the next week. She finds that Bold Hold lasts 7 days before her lace begins to lift, and Ghost Bond only lasts 5 days before her lace begins to lift.

Create an accurate conclusion based off of the hypothesis and data provided. Use 2 sentences.

Lisa performed an experiment to test which lace glue will last the longest. She judged this by which glue gave her more days of wear before her lace began to lift. Based off of her data, it can be concluded that Bold Hold glue last the longest as it didn't lift until after 7 days. Ghost Bond glue lifted after 5 days. With this information, we can also conclude that Lisa's hypothesis was correct.

Lamont plays football. He is looking for the best cleats that will make him run the fastest. He tries Nike cleats for one week and adidas cleats for another. He runs a 40 yard dash on both weeks in the different cleats. With the Nike cleats, completes the 40 yard dash in 4.20 seconds. In the Adidas cleats, he completes the 40 yard dash in 4.25 seconds.

Find the INDEPENDENT VARIBLE, DEPENDENT VARIABLE, AND DRAW A CONCLUSION WITH THIS DATA

IV= Type of cleats

DV= How fast he runs the 40 yard dash

CONCLUSION= Nike cleats make him run the fastest
