What order do you have the take the test?
Any order you want. Maybe do the paired passages first to knock out the longest section. If you're in an oral administration group, try to follow along with the teacher reading the passage.
What should you do if you feel like your mind has went blank or you just need to refocus?
(Answers may vary) There are many different ways from turning your test over and closing your eyes just to pause momentarily or take a deep breath, you could roll your head in a circle slowly or even have a mental talk with yourself to regroup, etc.
How to find out what room you're testing in
Check the lists posted around the school
Why should you pay close attention to the time as you're getting ready on the morning of the test?
You want to make sure you should arrive early with spare time on your hands to be able to avoid the stress of running late right before your test.
If you get to a word that you don't know, what should you do
Use a dictionary and use context clues
What you do with your stuff once you get to the classroom
Leave everything in your backpack in the hallway, outside the classroom
When you're talking about the test you can joke around and say "Oh I'm probably going to fail" or "I'm not going to try, I know I won't pass"
False! You should always talk positively. Your words affect your thoughts. Tell yourself, "I am fully prepared for this test" or "I got this! I'm going to go in and do my best." Pump yourself up!
What is the first thing you should do after you read an ELA multiple choice question?
Try and answer the question without looking at the answer choices. Then look at the answers choices and find proof from the passage.
What you're allowed to do after the test is over
Read or sleep (So bring a book!!)
Before taking your test, should you write down anything you remember that will help you? Or should you just wing it and go by what you think would be right?
You should write down whatever you remember (which is also known as Memory Cues); never wing it. Always chose the best thing to do over just "getting by". (Possible cues include formulas, dates, quotation or acronym.)
What are you allowed to bring into the classroom
A Pencil, highlighter, snack, water, and a book.
What should you wear to school to make sure you're comfortable in the classroom? (Beware the evil thermostat with a mind of it's own)
When you get a summary question, the longer answer is usually correct. True or False?
False! Just because it is the longest answer, does not mean it is correct. Slow down and use the BME strategies, and eliminate any answer choices that have details that are too specific.
What should you do when you're finished bubbling your answers?
Go back and check that all of your bubbles match your answer choices!
You should do what you want or make a routine that helps you prepare physically and mentally before a test. True or False?
True! You should do whatever you do, if it's jamming to music then jam to music or if you like to do yoga with calming wave sounds then do that. Whatever helps you focus and gets you into preparation then do it.
