HEADING
This feature tells what page each chapter or section of the book starts
TABLE OF CONTENTS
It is a picture that shows the location of places. Can show countries, states, cities, and towns.
MAP
Text that has facts about real places, animals, events, or things.
NONFICTION/INFORMATIONAL
It is a picture made with a camera that shows how things look in real life.
PHOTOGRAPH
These are pictures in a book that are drawn.
ILLUSTRATIONS
These are the words next to or under a picture that explain what it is or is about.
CAPTION
Made up stories that could happen in real life.
REALISTIC FICTION
The words that are put on or near a picture to name special parts.
LABELS
A list of new or important words that tells what they mean.
GLOSSARY
Words that are printed darker to show that they are new or important in the text.
BOLD PRINT

This is the page at the beginning of the book that shows the title, author, and publisher.
TITLE PAGE
This is a list of important words and gives the page numbers where the words can be found in the text.
INDEX
This feature is on the side of the page and gives more information about the topic.

A list of important events that are shown in the order that they happened.

A picture that shows what an object looks like when you zoom in.

A true story written about a real person's life.
