What is a HEADING?
This gives the heading/chapter and beginning page of each section of the book. This is at the beginning of the book.
What is the TABLE OF CONTENTS?
This is the slanted text that identifies new or important words.
What is ITALICS?
It shows information in a visual way so that it can be understood by readers. It can be represented by bars or lines.
What is a GRAPH?
These are the words next to or under a picture that explain what it is or is about.
What is a CAPTION?
It calls attention to new and important words by making them stand out.
What is BOLD PRINT or KEYWORDS?
This alphabetically lists new or important words and tells what they mean.
What is a GLOSSARY?
This is a picture that you can click on that will take you to the home page.
What is ICON?
This is the page at the beginning of the book that shows the title, author, and publisher.
What is TITLE PAGE?
This is beneath the heading and tells what that section will be about.
What is SUBHEADING?
This has information in boxes that relates to other boxes of information.
What is a TABLE?
This states the specific name for parts of the object.
What are labels?
These help the reader to understand the information that is in non-fiction texts.
