After an introduction to the topic, I would choose three similar elements between the two topics to discuss. I would then spend a paragraph on each element and compare and contrast between the two topics. Then I would move on to a new paragraph with a new element. I would finish off with a brief conclusion about what we can learn from each topic.

Cause and Effect revolves around an event, such as 9/11. It discusses what caused the event and what effect the event had on the world. Problem and Solution revolves around a problem, such as pollution. It discusses the problem, but then goes into more detail about current solutions or potential solutions.

Cause/Effect - you can discussed why the shooter did it and what effect it had on the community/nation. Problem/Solution - You can think of solutions for the issue of school shootings and safety within schools.
