What was the Boston Tea Party? Why did it occur and how did Britain respond?
A phrase that describes the incident where many colonists disguised as Indians dumped over 340 tea chests overboard into the Boston harbor. Britain responded with the intolerable acts (harbor closed until tea paid for, Massachusetts charter cancelled, royal officials tried in Britain, quartering act, gave land to the colony of Quebec, and put General Thomas Gage as the new governor of Massachusetts).

Washington and his troops settled at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, about 20 miles outside Philadelphia, for the winter from 1777-78. Troops were very low on supplies and basic necessities like food and water and clothing. Marquis de Lafayette, a young wealthy Frenchmen, arrived to supply soldiers with supplies and military skills. Baron Freidrich von Steuben came from Prussia to also help train the Continental Army.
