Name the 2 products of Photosynthesis
Glucose and Oxygen
What are autotrophs, and what 2 examples of them
- Autotrophs are organisms that produce their own food using sunlight, carbon dioxide, and water
- Examples are: Plants, Algae, Bacteria.
The non-stop biochemical movement of carbon atoms from the atmosphere and back to it is called what?
THE CARBON CYCLE 😁
What do the words anabolic and catabolic mean? What processes do they each go with
- Anabolic is the process of building up large molecules (like glucose). It goes with the process of Photosynthesis.
- Catabolic is the process of breaking down large complex molecules (glucose is broken down) so energy can be released.
What to plants NEED in order for photosynthesis to happen?
Sunlight/ Light energy
What is the difference between ADP and ATP
ADP has 2 phosphates (Di-phosphate), while ATP has 3 (tri-phosphate).
ATP is a fully charged battery
Bacteria and Fungi are called what? And what process do they go with?
- Bacteria and Fungi are nature's decomposers
- They're involved with the process of decomposition
Name 4 systems we've learned this unit
Answers Include:
1. Digestive
2. Nervous system: Central Nervous System or Peripheral Nervous System
3. Excretory
4. Respiratory
5. Circulatory
6. Endocrine
Green and Chlorophyll
Can heterotrophs go through the process of cellular respiration?
Heterotrophs are the opposite of autotrophs; they cannot produce their own food. They instead survive by eating autotrophs or other heterotrophs like themselves. Humans and animals are Heterotrophs, BUT we DO NOT EAT EACH OTHER. 😰
The burning of fossil fuels and the burning of fossil fuels is called what?
Cumbustion
What are some differences between Animal and Plant cells?
1. Animals don't have a cell wall. Plants do.
2. Plants have one large Vacuole. Animals have lots of small ones
3. Animals don't have Chloroplasts. Plants do.
4. Plants are Autotrophs while animals are Heterotrophs
5. Plants typically don't have Lysosomes. Animals do
Write down the equation of photosynthesis
6Co2+ 6H20= C6H1206+ 602
What is the equation for cellular respiration?
C6H12O6+ 6o2= ATP+ 6H2o+ 6Co2
Other than breathing in Oxygen, what other thing(s) do we humans inhale?
1. Nitrogen- this doesn't affect us
2. Carbon Dioxide- yes, we breathe it in but quickly exhale it back
What are the 6 common elements found in the human body? 100 bonus points if you can list them in order (900 points)
1. Oxygen
2. Carbon
3. Hydrogen
4. Nitrogen
5. Calcium
6. Phosphorus
Why are plants green?
If you said that plants are green because of the chlorophyll that their chloroplasts contain, you'd be partly correct. Yes, they're green because of chlorophyll, but the other part is because they absorb every color from the sun EXCEPT for green. The plant then reflects the color green outward, and that's the color that we see.
