What does "See a Job, Do a Job" Refer to in terms of camp life?

What is

"When we see a task and we are available we do a task. Just walking past something multiple times results in things being ignored for weeks on end".

"Alex a chipmunk scraped her knee, her camp counsellor IMMEDIATELY took her  to the medic from the gaga ball pit and got Alex's knee assessed"

In terms of our rules around safeguarding children, what are the two biggest mistakes that Alex's counsellor made in this scenario?

1. the buddy system, we always bring either another camper or counsellor with us when we are taking a camper somewhere.

2. Communication, The counsellor did not communicate with her co-counsellor when they we're going.

What is the difference between:

Equality, Equity and Inclusion in Terms of Camp Life

- give me an example

Equality: Everyone starts on a level playing field, meaning everyone has the same amount of everything.

- Camp Example --> We all have the opportunity to get 8 hours of sleep, and the wake-up bell rings at the same time for everyone

Equity: Everyone gets what they need, some things need to be personally tailored to the individual.

- Camp example --> Keaton & Ginette need a different amount of food at meals, BUT we both should have equal opportunity to have what we want (in terms of variety) on our plate.

Inclusion: everyone here is special, we all bring something to the table that nobody else does. This means instead of letting Ego & Jealously dictate our actions. We need to give everyone an equal opportunity to shine in whatever they excel in.

- Camp example --> Emma has some of the most extensive Earth skills knowledge we have at camp, so she is a great person to ask about that. Maddie has a psychology degree and knows so much about mental health & wellness --> great person to ask about that. Maddy, Sara & Celia are incredible artists and love to express themselves that way --> We need to give them opportunities to decorate and have creative freedom when and where possible.

AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, Support each other through our success & failures.

If I am an underage staff member, am I allowed to form a romantic relationship with a camper within an appropriate age range?

NO! Any and all relationships formed with campers must be strictly platonic to protect you, the camper and the mission of Camp Casdicasu!

Fire is "alive" for lack of a better term, in what direction does fire like to move?

Also, name three resources that Corey taught you that can be used to start a fire. (2 natural one, 1 household)

1. Fire likes to move upwards, therefore when starting a fire we always want to light our kindling from the bottom and allow the flame to grow up the kindling!

2.

- Juma (a natural type of rope) that is shredded and used to start our opening & closing campfires (THANKS EMMA)

-  The inner layer of Spruce tree bark that has been dried and started to peel off the bark. This is one of the most commonly used materials used at camp. Please only used already fallen or dead trees!

- A mixture of vaseline and dryer lint, which is why Caleb has a huge jar for dryer thing in the laundry room!

What is the policy that Cadicasu has concerning bullying?

Bonus (100): Do we as counsellors have the right to threaten to send children home in response to bad behaviour?

What is a "zero-tolerance" policy for bullying. Camp Cadicasu is a space for people to feel safe, loved and welcome. If behaviour is interrupting this, the leadership team should be informed and a decision will be made by them concerning the camper's future at Cadi!

Bonus: We as counsellors do not have the right to threaten anything, let alone have the "power" to send a kid home. Trust us when we say this will just make things worse!

300

You're responsible for a group of 8-10 campers on a weekly basis, a fire alarm goes off what is the order of action that we are responsible for as counsellors?

(There's four main steps)

1. Immediately gather at the muster point which is located at the weather station

2. Line your campers up and assure you have an accurate head count.

3. Report any missing campers to the nearest SR. Staff members and the leadership team!

4. Engage your campers in whatever way you can to keep them calm and having a great time

Is it appropriate to report other staff members' romantic relationships within the workspace?

Bonus (100 points): if your answer is no, when IS it appropriate to raise concerns about relations between other staff members?

What is:

1. When staff are forming relationships that are deemed ethically questionable (ie. an overage and underage staff member)

2. When the staff members are engaging in PDA's, because while I love love as much as the next guy, we don't need to see your tongue down someone else's throat THANKS

400

You and your cabin group are on an outtrip and encounter an infamous Kananaskis Grizzly bear. Which of the following responses is the MOST appropriate solution to this problem?

1. Grab the nearest kid, throw them and use them as canon-fodder so the rest of the grow can escape.

2. Take the safety off your can of bear spray, allow the rest of the group to slowly back away as you engage the grizzly bear.

3. Unhook the can of bear spray, address silence in your group, appear large and make noise to ward off the bear while slowly backing in the opposite direction.

What are the ways you can keep an open line of communication with your campers after camp is over? (If you believe there are multiple, say them all!)

1. You may communicate with your campers directly through the camp email to allow Cadicasu to act as an impartial buffer between you and the camper. This is to protect you, the camper and the integrity of the Camp Cadicasu community!

ANYTHING ELSE IS INCORRECT, SORRY 'BOUT IT!
