Describe Sherman's March:
What is Sherman (Union) started towards Atlanta, Georgia and went to Savannah, Georgia with many troops and using "total war", which meant destroying every civilian and economic resource in his path. He burned plantations and livestock, etc. . . It lasted from the Spring of 1864 until the Winter and was a large success for the North, but led to much resentment from the South. He wanted to knock out the South's railroads, which were the center of their industry.
