However, British protected Belgium, so British declared Germany.

Advantages:

 Use artillery fire to suppress the enemy and weaken the defense.

 The raid can be successful in darkness and chaos.

Disadvantages:

 The enemy may have been prepared, but the artillery fire failed to completely destroy the defense.

 The attacker is exposed to no man's land and is very vulnerable to counterattacks by machine guns and artillery.
