The library with a vast (large) collection of books was supposed to make Gatsby look well educated.

Although the books were real, the pages had never been cut which means the books had never been read.

What does this tell us about Gatsby?

This shows that Gatsby is not authentic (real). He wants to show others that he's educated, wise, etc. but he is a fraud (fake). 

The books symbolize how Gatsby looks one way on the outside, but on the inside he's something different. He's trying to impress everyone by looking a certain way.

Describe Tom Buchanan. What kind of person is he?

Tom is strong, aggressive, and controlling. He hit Myrtle in the face and broke her nose which shows us he can be violent when people don't do what he wants.
