The dwarves needed to go through the mountain to gain their confidence and want to reclaim their home back.
How does Smaug die?
Bard stays in the burning town until he has his final arrow. The thrush comes to speak to him and told him about the bare spot on his chest. Bard waits for the perfect moment and shoots the arrow through Smaug's heart.
"That will be the last we shall hear of Thorin Oakenshield, I fear."

The Wood Elves.
Who are the enemies of the elves and WHY?
The dwarves because they are very unlike the elves. Elves are clean and elegant. Dwarves are loud and dirty.
