In the English language, there are many words that spell forwards and backwards the exact same. An example of this would be "Taco Cat" or "Race Car" both of which would spell backwards and forwards the same way. These types of words are called "Ambigrams" with the word Ambi meaning both (Ambi-dexterous) (Ambi-guous) and the word gram meaning "to record" in this case, recording / writing down the word front to back.

The word “hundred” comes from the old Greek term, “hundrath”, which actually means 120 and not 100. Over time, the value of "Hundrath" changed to 100 since 100 is a more rounded and clean number.

The Statue of Liberty is one of the most famous landmarks of all time. Standing tall in new york, this statue is well known by many people. What is not so well known is that the statue did not originally belong in the US and was originally not green. The Statue of Liberty was given to the US in 1885 by the people of Norway as a way of recognizing the US as its own country. The statue was originally made out of copper and was a bronze color, however over time the copper had oxidized and turned itself green.

Your brain is actually split up into 2 different sides, a left side and a right side. The left side of your brain controls the right side of your body. As well as that your left brain is the side that comes up with imaginative and creative ideas. Your right brain controls the left side of your body, but it is the more logical and factual part of your brain.

Um actually... the left side of the brain is the logical side while the right side of the brain is the creative and imaginative one.

William Shakespeare was a famous playwright and was well known for his writings of early English plays. Did you know however, that he was also a bit of a linguist, adding over 1700 new words into the dictionary. Some of these words include "Addiction", "Yap", "Breaking the Ice", and  "Swagger", "Cold - Blooded". Some of these words have changed their meaning over the years but it's still pretty cool that Shakespeare came up with them.

The Fibonacci sequence is a set of steadily increasing numbers where each number is equal to the sum of the preceding two numbers. Many things in nature have dimensional properties that adhere to the golden ratio of 1.618, a quotient derived from the Fibonacci sequence. The Fibonacci sequence was discovered and coined by Michaelangelo di Ludivico after his research Partner Leonardo Fibbonacci.

The Cold War was an event that happened during the early 60s. The reason that the Cold war got its name was because of how the United States was in conflict with Russia. Russia is a very cold and snowy place during the winter and many of the battles fought in the Cold War happened during that time.

There are 3 different types of ions that make up everything in the world. These three ions are known as protons, neutrons, and electrons. Protons are known to have a positive charge. Neutrons are known to have no charge at all. Electrons are known to have a negative charge. By adding or subtracting protons, neutrons, and electrons different elements can be created.

The English language has many ways to describe people's fears. One of these ways is to add a base word to the suffix "-Phobia". For example the fear of spiders is named "Arachnaphobia". The word Arachna being the latin root word for spider. There are a lot of other strange phobias that people may have. "Nomophobia" is the fear of not having your phone at all times, "Arithmaphobia", the fear of Microsoft spreadsheets, and "Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia " or the fear of long words

Roman Numerals are known as one of the earliest form of recorded numbers, Starting with Z which stands for zero and moving forward with I, II, III, and so on. Many of the numbers have their own values as well

Z - Zero

I - One

V - Five

X - Ten

Based on the placement of the letters, you will add or subtract the value. If the letter is placed on the left then you will subtract, if the letter is placed on the right, you will add. Therefore IV will be 4 because you are subtracting 1 from 5 and VI will be 6 because you are adding 1 to 5.

Japan is well known for their technology and many companies. One such company is the classic company Nintendo. Known for their famous characters like Mario, Zelda, and Kirby, this company is famous for making video games for all ages. However, did you know that this company wasn't always a video game development company? Thats right, Nintendo once used to be a toy company who's first toy "The Ultrahand" was created in 1960.

Um Actually, Nintendo used to be a playing card manufacturing company.

Charles Darwin was a very famous researcher known for most for his theory of evolution, but did you know how he first discovered this theory? When travelling to the Galapagos islands, he discovered that many of the apes living on different parts of the island had differently shaped hands based on where they were on the island. He saw that the apes near the sea had bigger hands in order for them to catch larger fish. Darwin also noticed that the apes that lived on the inner part of the island had smaller hands and evolved with more ridges on their fingers in order to crack open nuts, fruit, and coconuts as well as have better grip to swing around on trees.

Um, actually... Darwin did not discover evolution through apes, but through Finch birds instead.

As Taft was attempting to get his coat, he got stuck inbetween the doorway and was unable to get out until secret service had arrived to help him. As dumb as this sentence sounds, it actually makes complete sense. It translates to 

"Buffalo buffalo (animals called "buffalo" from the city of Buffalo in West Virginia) [that] Buffalo buffalo buffalo (that the same kind of animals from the city bully) buffalo Buffalo buffalo (bully these animals from that city) "

The term "A baker's Dozen" represents the number 14. Why is it called this though? This term actually comes from the old practice that bakers would throw in 2 extra loaves of bread in order to make sure the weight of the box was above the legal amount that was supposed to be given.

In the ninth century, the Pope was an incredibly powerful and unstable political figure ruling over central Italy. Between 872 and 965, over two dozen popes were appointed, often with a new one every year, all coming from rival factions in Rome, leading to some internal tensions. In 896, Pope Formosus died after a five year pontificate filled with power struggles and external influences over the Papacy. His successor and former rival, Pope Stephen VI, accused the now-dead Formosus of performing black magic and worshipping those other than God, having his corpse removed from its tomb and brought to the papal court for judgment, where a trial was held and Formosus was found guilty! Pope Stephen VI then decreed that the guilty body of Formosus be dumped in Rome’s river Tiber. After this had been done, however, the people of Rome protested, rumouring the body was performing miracles, and Stephen was imprisoned and killed by a popular uprising, with the following pope reversing the previous trial.

Black holes are known to vacuum everything around it inside itself. They are where dark matter comes from and where the theory of spaghettification comes from. Spaghettification is a term in which when someone or something is sucked inside a black hole, their atoms are stretched and morphed vertically due to the fact that black holes bend space and light itself. Nothing can escape from a black hole's vacuum except for light itself.
