What is the Fall Line in this region? How did the Fall Line affect the growth of Philadelphia?

The Fall Line is the  boundary between the higher land to the west and the lower coastal plain. Rivers and streams form waterfalls as they drop at the fall line. Therefore, ships bring goods up the Delaware River could go not further and had to be unloaded in Philadelphia.  This caused Philadelphia to serve as centers for trade, or markets where people could buy and sell goods.
