They walk the girls home and Greasers pull up and tell Cherry and Marcia to get in the car. Johnny and Ponyboy stay outside and watch the stars and smoke , and Ponyboy ended up falling asleep and that made him late coming home. Ponyboy got in trouble by Darry because Pony was home really late.

The foreshadow Ponyboy decides to run away from home after Darry slaps him. Ponyboy flees the house and runs to the vacant lot where he has left Johnny a short time before. ... Still, this church makes Ponyboy uneasy from the very beginning. "Things gotta get better, I figured. They couldn't get worse. I was wrong."

Mickey Mouse was Soda’s horse. Not really but it was at the farm he worked on. He loved that horse. They sold him because he was valuable and they couldn’t afford another one. They included it in the story to further express the difference between Socs and Greasers, everything gets taken away from Greasers.

The sunset shows that they are from 2 different worlds with the same interest….the sunset. It was included to show that even Socs and Greasers may have something in common.

He came up from behind and grabbed their shoulders. It was scary for Johnny because when you don't know that someone is behind you and then they grab you shoulder it frightens you, and maybe he thought he was going to get jumped by a Soc again.
