Ponyboy didn't help Dally because they weren't greasy girls they were Socs and Ponyboy was half scared of them. They were good looking and they dressed sharp.
Why did The Soc Bob die?
Bob died because his friends and him were jumping Ponyboy and Johnny after they ran away from home. They were stuck in the middle of the park and The Socs were drowning Ponyboy so Johnny killed Bob and the other Socs ran away.

Dally died because he was dealing with grief and the police surrounded him at the park after he held the comic store owner at gunpoint with an unloaded gun. The police found him as a treat so they shot him multiple times in the chest.
