What are the two types of venae cavae?
Superior and Inferior
Oxygen-poor blood returns to the heart from all parts of the body into the superior and inferior venae cavae, and then into what?
The right atrium
What kind of valves are there?
Tricuspid, pulmonary, bicuspid, and aortic valves.
What kinds of ventricles do we have? Where are they located?
There are right and left ventricles. The right ventricle is located below the pulmonary valve, and below the right atrium. The left is beside the right ventricle, and is below the mitral and aortic valves as well as the left atrium.
What is the only type of artery that we've gone over so far?
Pulmonary
Where does the blood flow after the venae cavae
Into the right atrium
The right atrium has blood flow into what?
The tricuspid valve?
What does the blood from the tricuspid and pulmonary valves go into? What about the bicuspid and aortic?
The tricuspid flows into the right ventricle, the pulmonary valve flows into pulmonary circulation. The mitral valve flows into the left ventricle, and the aortic valve flows into the aorta.
What comes before and after both left and right ventricles.
Before the right ventricle is the tricuspid valve, and after is the pulmonary valve. Before the left is the bicuspid valve, and after is the aortic valve.
Where are the pulmonary arteries located?
On the left and right side of the heart, both above the pulmonary veins on the left and right side.
What type of blood returns to heart from all parts of the body into the venae cavae?
Oxygen-poor blood
Where is right atrium located? Where is the left atrium?
The right atrium is loacted below the superior venae cavae while the left atrium is located by the left pulmonary veins and above the mitral valve.
Where are the valves located?
The tricuspid is located between the right atrium and the right ventricle, the pulmonary valve is located between the right ventricle and below the pulmonary arteries. the mitral valve is between the left atrium and left ventricle. The aortic valve is at the top of the left ventricle.
What type of blood flows into the left and right ventricles?
The right receives oxygen-poor, and the left receives oxygen-rich.
Where does blood go from the right pulmonary artery and the left?
The right pulmonary artery sends blood to the right side of the lung, while the left sends blood to the left lung.
Where is the superior venae cavae located? Where is the inferior venae cavae?
The superior venae cavae is at the top of the heart, and the inferior venae cavae is located at the bottom
Oxygen-rich blood arrives at the heart and into what?
The left atrium
What kind of blood goes into the tricuspid valve? What kind goes into the bicuspid and aortic?
Tricuspid valve and pulmonary valve both receive oxygen-poor blood, while both the bicuspid and aortic receive oxygen-rich
How does the blood flow?
WHen the right ventricle receives blood, it flows into the pulmonary arteries, after passing the pulmonary valve, which guides the blood to the left lung. The left ventricle receives blood from the pulmonary veins from the left lung, which goes into the left atrium before reaching the mitral valve, and finally the aortic valve.
What occurs before the pulmonary arteries? What comes after?
Blood enters the pulmonary circulation before arriving at the lungs, and transforming the blood from oxygen-poor to oxygen-rich
Where does the superior venae cavae get blood from? Where does the inferior venae cavae?
The superior venae cavae collects blood from the upper body while the inferior collects it from the lower body
The left atrium takes the oxygen-rich blood into what?
biscupid/mitral valve
What step comes before each of the valves?
The right atrium comes before the tricuspid. The right ventricle comes before the pulmonary. The left atrium comes before the bicuspid, and the left ventricle comes before the aortic.
Differences between the right and left ventricle.
The right ventricle is located upon the right side of the heart, and the left ventricle is located upon the left.
What is the difference between the pulmonary veins v. arteries?
The pulmonary arteries have blood flow into the left or right lungs while the pulmonary veins receive blood from the lungs.
