What is a problem/question?

What is a variable?
The wood is dark brown.
This is the step in scientific method when the scientist does a fair test of the hypothesis.

Something that stays the same throughout an experiment.
What is the constant variable?
The dog is black.
What is a qualitative observation?
This is the idea the scientist forms of what might be happening, or what they think will happen. Usually in an "If...than" statement.
What is a hypothesis?
The variable that is changed by the scientist.
What is the independent variable?
The car was going 75 mph.
What is a quantitative observation?
This step involves recording the data that you can sense with your five senses and measure.
What is observations?
The variable that is dependent on the independent variable.
What is the dependent variable?
The couch is 7 feet long.
What is a quantitative observation?
Using the data collected the scientist can answer the question, or has solved the problem.
What is the conclusion?
Variable that is intentionally kept the same in an experiment to showcase the difference made by the independent and dependent variable.
What is the control variable?
There are 10 blue marbles and 18 red marbles.
