What is Maccabee?
*The Maccabees are the heroes of the Chanukah story, so it makes sense that they are the heroes of our story too with a whole week of surprises to give us a well deserved lift! (Watch for info towards the end of November.)
Around once a month, we end the day on Friday with an assembly called "Shabbat Shabang." We sing, have performances, our Shinshinim (teens from Israel) teach us some Hebrew slang, but the most popular part of the program is THIS which happens at the end.

**Read For Life is one of our truly fabulous all school programs. The program spans about 7 weeks, and it centers around reading, but it includes an opening and closing ceremony, a book fair, a multi age program, weekly DEAR time (drop everything and read), a storybook fashion show, author visits, chances to spin the "wheel of wow" for prizes, and so much more.

Unfortunately, the students have not been able to attend since COVID. Hopefully they will be able to have a chance to attend this year. (and sing the infamous lyrics "all the rivers run, dancing in the sun..."
This exhausting but fun day gives the students AND staff an opportunity for some friendly competition. Think: donuts on a string, and whipped cream on your face. Name the program AND the holiday on which it takes place each year.
What is Color War and Lag BaOmer?
*The Omer refers to the 49 days between the 2nd night of Passover and the holiday of Shavuot when we get the Torah, and it is also marks the beginning of the barley harvest. We count each day, and the 33rd day is the holiday of Lag BaOmer. Too much to explain in detail here. Please discuss! :-)

**You might notice that a few of those titles are not like the others! While most of those shows are actual Broadway shows, Shmooly, Fairy Tales, and Seder belong solely to the Cleveland Jewish Community-- written by Sheri Gross. On tap for this year?
