The series of events in a play that lead up to the climax
What is Rising Action?
A notification of a working session
What is Call?
An invisible wall through which the audience views the action.
What is Fourth Wall?
Room where actors wait to be called into the audition room.
What is holding room
Naturalistic setting of a complete room built from flats with only the side nearest the audience (the fourth wall) missing.
What is Box Set?
An explanation, normally in the dialogue, of events preceding the beginning of the play. Also, any plot-related information that is provided to help the audience understand actions that take place offstage.
What is Exposition?
Following an audition, the director may ask to see a shortlist of actors again
What are Callbacks?
Green Room
At the end of a performance, the acknowledgement of applause by actors - the bows.
What is Curtain Call?
The opening in the wall which stands between stage and auditorium in some theatres; the picture frame through which the audience sees the play
What is Proscenium Arch?
The end of the play where everything gets resolved
What is Resolution/Denouement?
The command given to technical departments to carry out a particular operation. 2) Any signal that indicates another action should follow
What is Cue?
The out of view areas to the sides of the acting area

The cast, crew and other staff associated with a show
