The crow had been flying all day and was very thirsty. He soon found a pitcher and hurried toward it for a drink, but it was too tall for the crow's short beak to reach the water inside. The crow tried to tilt the pitcher, but it was too heavy to move. Just then, he noticed some pebbles scattered on the ground. He picked them up and one at a time, he started dropping them into the pitcher. Slowly the water began to rise towards the top.
