What are Areas of Knowledge & Ways of Knowing
Covers almost everything creative that people do, from dance to sculpture to painting to creative writing (and reading).
What is The Arts?
The core theme of the course.
What is Knowledge and the Knower?
What knowledge the AOK maps out, and how it's used.
What is Scope?
Within the DP Program, TOK belongs to this group.
What is the Core?
This area of knowledge makes claims about the natural world, and attempts to find laws by which the world works.
What are the Natural Sciences?
The number of selected optional themes required to be explored in the first year of the course.
What is 2?
This element focuses on the importance and influence of different points of view and context
What is Perspective?
TOK, in combination with the EE, can help you earn up to this number of points towards your final DP score.
What is 3?
We have not yet done this AoK. It will be studied in the first semester of Grade 12.
What is History?
The number of AoKs that should be studied throughout the course.
What is 5?
This element focuses on exploring the ways and practices that we use to produce knowledge.
What is Methods & Tools?
Minimum grade required to be considered a "pass"
What is a D?
This is not science done in the laboratory, rather it's the scientific study of human behavior and social interaction.
What are the Human Sciences?
Was defined by Plato as "justified true belief"
What is knowledge?
This element focuses on exploring the considerations that have an impact on inquiry in the different themes and areas of knowledge.
What is Ethics?
The maximum length of this final TOK assessment, done in the second year of the course.
What is 1600 words?
Only in this area of knowledge would so many people claim that their knowledge is absolutely certain and able to be shown using rigorous logical proof.
What is Mathematics?
This ancient Greek philosopher was credited with the Allegory of the Cave.
Who is Plato?
The total number of core concepts studied in the course.
What is 12?
Considered the internal assessment component of TOK.
