This technique gives the patient time to organize his/her thoughts and think through what he/she is going to say.

Handling conflict effectively; Clearly expressing ideas/information.
What is Relationship-management?
Being attentive to what a patient is saying both verbally and nonverbally.
What is active listening?
The step in the Clinical Judgement Action Model where the nurse generates solutions.
What is Planning?
The nurse states "You'll be just fine, and they probably won't find anything wrong".
What is false reassurance?
Nurse: "I'll sit with you awhile".
What is offering self?
Picking up on the mood in the room.

What is body behaviors?
This examination takes approximately 10 minutes to administer and assess language, memory, attention, orientation, and visuospatial proficiency.

What is Intrapersonal Communication?
Symptoms include exhaustion, disrupted sleep, anxiety, headaches, irritability, numbness, emotional disconnection, etc.
What is compassion fatigue?
Sitting and facing the patient with an open posture while leaning toward them. Maintaining eye contact while being relaxed.
What is SOLER?
It includes mental or emotional status and psychosocial assessment.
What does the assessment interview include?
Client: "I can't sleep, I stay up all night". Nurse: You are having difficulty sleeping?
What is restating?
Recognizing that clients may have values and beliefs that differ from yours and modifying your approach to their preferences.
What is Awareness of Cultural Differences?
A collection of techniques that prioritize the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of patients.
What is Therapeutic Communication?
Knowing when to communicate allows the receiver to be more attentive.
What is timing/relevance?
The final phase of the clinical judgement model where the nurse determines if the outcomes have been met. Did the nursing interventions help the client to achieve their goals.
What is Evaluation?
This can limit answers to one or two words.
