What is a therapist?
A therapist is someone who goes to school and learns how to help people with their overwhelming feelings, worries, and problems.
Sometimes we know our emotions because of physical feelings, like a racing heart or headache might show we are anxious. Other times we might feel happy and show that by smiling or laughing! What are some other ways you can show emotions?

1. Try to limit distractions (no TV in background or friends/family hanging around UNLESS it's a family session!)
2. Try your best! It's okay to be overwhelmed or not know the answer. The important thing is to try or ask for help if needed!
3. Honesty is key! I can't help you if I don't know what's going on. I promise, I won't judge you, my job is to help!
How can you tell what someone else is feeling?
Just like how we have feelings, other people do too! And they likely show it in similar ways that we do. For example, we know someone might be sad if they are crying or angry if they are stomping.
