What is a project group?

What's the difference between directive and facilitative leadership in regards to an OT's role?

Facilitative leadership structures groups, provides information and supplies, serves as a resource person, & gains strong member rapport

Egocentric-cooperative groups utilize facilitative leadership to encourage members to gratify the social and emotional needs of other members. The task is secondary to social aspects.
Cooperative groups utilize a advisor leadership style that makes the OT a coequal member. The group is more cohesive and shares thoughts, feelings, values, and interests.

Learning from experience and reorganizing for the future
A group of middle schoolers collaborate weekly to design and construct a community mural for the school hallway. Each week they work together on different sections of the mural while contributing their ideas and skills. What leadership role would best serve this group?

Facilitative leadership because the students are working on a task that requires resources and supplies. Their maturity and cognition is at a medium level, therefore they may require guidance from the OT leader to attain group cohesiveness.
This would be a project group because students are given a task that offers them independent roles while working in a group to complete a project.
