What is APTA?

The national professional, scientific, and and credentialing association for audiologists, speech language pathologists, speech/language/hearing scientists, and audiology and speech-language pathology assistants, and students
What is ASHA?
An acronym that represents how much weight to put on the affected extremity. The % of weight is determined by the orthopedic surgeon.
What is PWB?
An acronym that represents higher level activities of daily living. Examples include child care, cooking, yard work, etc.
What are IADLs?
An acronym that refers to a process that uses an X-ray to help identify problems with swallowing
What is an MBS?
A device with a large base (larger than a cane) that allows a patient to walk using one hand for support.
What is hemi walker?
A device that allows a patient to put on a sock independently.
What is a sock aid?
A device that allows voice/speech production and improves swallow as well as secretion management.
What is a PMV?
A timed screening test that measures functional mobility, balance, and fall risk
What is the TUG?
An assessment used to measure basic mobility, daily activity, and applied cognitive functions in addition to difficulty, assistance, and limitations in activities of daily living

A screening instrument for mild cognitive dysfunction such as early dementia

A common hand splint recommended for preventing hand contractures
What is a resting hand splint?
The type of thickened liquid to recommend for a patient if they choke on thin liquids
What is nectar thick liquid?
