Tell about a time you felt sad
:(
When you are mad .... what coping skill helps you feel better?
Way to go!
A girl in your class draws a picture for you and is excited to give it to you. But when you see the picture... you don't like it. What do you do?
The polite thing to do is to say Thank You the person for drawing you a picture and place the picture in a safe space for keeping.
It would be impolite and hurt their feelings to tell the girl you do not like the drawing.
Who in your family is most similar to you? Who is most different?
Thanks for sharing!
Is this a "big deal" or "little deal"?
-Something you cannot get over quickly
-Something you cannot ignore
-Changes something really important for a long time
These are examples of a BIG deal!
What does it feel like in your brain and body when you are nervous? Describe it.
Ugh... so scary!!!
What is a coping skill? Why would someone use one?
A coping skill is something you can do to help yourself feel better, to help you manage a stressful situation, to solve a problem, etc.
You are standing in line at school and the kid behind you is bothering you. What do you do?
First - use your words kindly and ask them to stop
Second - try to ignore
Third - ask a teacher for help

A piano, a keyboard
Change this thought from "stuck" to "flexible":

How could you cheer someone up who is feeling sad?
Tell a joke, ask them to play with you, ask them what is wrong, give them a hug or high five, etc.
When you are sad.... what coping skill helps you feel better?
Great job!
Another kid that goes to your school waves and says hi to you in the hallway, but you don't know them. What do you do?
Because you are safe at school and the kid is simply being nice and saying Hi.... it is ok to be kind in return and wave and say hi back :)
If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be and why?
Nice answer!
Describe what it means to be "stuck in the mud."
Being stuck in the mud means you are thinking or feeling stuck, overwhelmed, trapped, unable to move forward. In other words... NOT flexible.
What does it feel like in your brain and body when you are angry?

Can you think of any coping skills you have learned in therapy? Choose one and explain it.
Great idea! I am going to try that one for sure!
You really want to play with your best friend, but your best friend is playing with another kid in your class. What do you do?
You can ask your best friend if you can join them and all play together.
Or
You can ask another friend to play with you
What is the only continent without spiders?
Antarctica... brrr!
What does it mean to be flexible? Think both mentally and physically.
Flexible - wiggly like a cooked spaghetti noodle. Willing to change your mind or ideas. Willing to see something from someone else's perspective. Keeping an open mind.
Rigid - a hard spaghetti noodle that breaks if you bend it. Once you make up your mind you will never change it
What is something that makes you laugh?

Name 3 coping skills you can use anywhere, anytime.
Great job!!!
It is important to stand up for yourself and for others if they are being teased or bullied.
