What is the difference between a thesis statement and a topic sentence?

A thesis statement introduces your main argument for the essay, the points you're going
to make throughout the essay, and why you're using these points to make your argument.
A topic sentence introduces the points you outlines in the thesis statement at the start
of every paragraph.

What sort of things would you include in your "E" sentence in a literary analysis essay?

Lines from the novel/play you are writing your essay about that support what you said in
your topic sentence.

For example:
Topic sentence: In Julius Caesar, masculinity implies not only bravery, but also steadfastness, and the opposite traits—weakness, fearfulness, and inconstancy—are mainly associated with women.
Evidence: Male characters continuously use terms such as “womanish” to taunt other men perceived as timid or tractable. Brutus refers to the “melting spirits of women” (2.1.121), and Caesar’s call for water following his epileptic seizure is derided as the actions of “ a sick girl” (1.2.130).
