What is the articles definition of colonialism?

Colonialism is defined as “control by one power over a dependent area or people. In practice, colonialism is when one country violently invades and takes control of another country, claims the land as its own, and sends people — “settlers” — to live on that land."

In chapter 3 (page 24), why did Okonkwo lose all his yams?

A combination of torrential rain and extreme draught killed them.

Who is Okonkwo's biological son, what emotions does he cause Okonkwo to feel, and why does he make Okonkwo feel this way?

Nwoye. He causes Okonkwo "great anxiety" due to his "incipit laziness" (reminding him of his father).

He shot at her and missed.

Who is Ekwefi? In chapter 9 (page 77), why is she so stressed about Ezinma being sick?

Okonkwo's second wife. She is stressed about Ezinma being sick because she had lost 9 children during childbirth due to illness. Ezinma is the only child of hers to survive past infancy.

300

Aw shucks, you trusted Unoka and loaned him 300 Cowries so he could "buy wood to build his son a barn." He never paid you back, and he never built the barn.

The Scramble For Africa

In chapter 7 (page 61) find the horrific event that transpired and explain how and why it happened.

Ikemefuna was brought to the woods to be killed. When he realized this, he ran towards Okonkwo thinking he would save him. Instead, Okonkwo "cut him down" with his machete because he was afraid the Village Elders would view him as weak if he didn't.

In chapter 13, Okonkwo's gun accidentally exploded at Ogbuefi Ezeudu's funeral. When this happened, the shrapnel pierced the heart of Ezeudu's 16 year old son and killed him. As consequence, Okonkwo was banished from Umuofia for 7 years and the Village Elders burned all of his belongings.

500

Who is Okonkwo's best friend and WHY is he and Okonkwo's relationship a great example of character foil?
